High pressure ambient humidification in HSBC

Image
Headquartered in London, with over 9.500 offices in 79 countries HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world. CAREL was asked to provide comfortable ambient air quality in the offices and customer areas of the HSBC in Dusseldorf (Germany). During winter time, the outdoor air is very dry and cold. Increasing internal temperature with a heating system decreases its relative humidity leading the air condition at a very low comfort level. Low air humidity levels cause dryness of the throat, nose and eyes, increasing the probability of falling ill and consequently having to take time off from work. Low humidity levels moreover, accentuate problems deriving from electromagnetic fields and static electricity that, as well as possibly damaging and interfering with electronic devices, are harmful to the health. A humiFog humidifier has been installed in the Air Handling Unit . Up to 246 kg/h of water can be sprayed by the humifog using

Electronic Expansion Valves and Drivers

Image
Technology The ExV family valves manage refrigerant expansion through a variable valve port, created by a fixed calibrated opening and a canonical movable element. The linear movement of the closing element is achieved trough the combined action of a stepper motor and a worm screw transmission, which produces precise and regular movement by minimising friction. Control precision and stability are ensured by rotating elements supported by stainless steel ball bearings. The entire mechanism is very robust, thanks to the motor block suspended on harmonic steel springs, and a technopolymer chassis that guarantees high mechanical performance and light weight. All this is made possible my careful construction, the use of quality materials, and a production process with final testing on each and every product, in accordance with the highest quality standards. Performance The care paid to the design and  production of our valves ensure market-leading performance: high maxi

Air Conditioning in commercial applications

Image
Air-conditioning represents the process that enables and maintains specific temperature, relative humidity and indoor air purity conditions. Over and above outdoor conditions, this process enables, via the control of four variables, (air temperature, humidity, movement and quality), hygroscopic comfort for the occupants of a specific environment. In commercial buildings, there are two solutions to achieve such comfort: hydronic systems and air-to-air systems. In hydronic systems, water is used as a heat exchange fluid. The units producing hot or cold water to provide comfort are called chillers. Besides the chiller units, there are hydronic terminals (fan coils) and air handling units that heat and chill the individual environments, managing air quality.  On the other hand, the fluid used for the heat transfer in air-to-air system is air. The units used in these types of systems are air handling units and roof-tops. The latter are also called package units because they come in s

The New 2 Way Characterised Control Valves

Image
Belimo is now offering a convincing alternative to the heavyweight Globe valve actuator combinations: The extremely compact characterised control valves ( CCV ) with nominal diameters of DN 65...150 are up to three times lighter and lead to a reduction in operating costs.     More compact, lighter, better The product range of the globally unique Belimo characterised control valves is being expanded further: New flange versions in nominal diameters of DN 65 up toDN 150 control even larger sized volumetric flows with the highest of precision. Their patented characterising disk ensures an equal-percentage valve characteristic curve. Thanks to the simplicity of their construction, the characterised control valves are pressure-compensated and therefore require no holding torque when in closed position. Furthermore, because they close air bubble tight, an energy saving of up to 40% can be achieved during operation. Economical alternative The new characterised contro

Masteraria power mains sizing

Image
All Masteraria Panels both the ones that accommodate fans with motors up to 5,5 Kw motors ( CM00006125 ) and the ones that can accommodate fans up to 15 Kw motors ( CM000006148 ), have the same identical Main Disconnect Switch which can hold up to 125Amps of current MAX (which is a lot). The reason why we have introduced such a big disconnect switch is because we tried to squeeze inside the available space of the electrical panel box the largest disconnect switch that could possibly fit so that we would have allowed the AHU Manufacturer using our panels to source as much power as possible from the extra terminals. The power input to the electrical panel and the protections upstream, do not have to be necessarily this big (125 amps), but can be smaller depending on the specific fan motor sizes connected to the specific Electrical Panel, plus any eventual extra power sourced from the extra terminals. For example, if you have a supply fan of 3 Kw, an extract fan of 1.5 Kw and a c

Replacement Chart for the IR32 Universal

Below we have posted an easy and handy chart which will provide a direct reference of the replacement models of the IR32 Universal. These controllers have been phased out by Carel back in 2009 and are fully replaced by the new IR33 Universal. The IR33 Universal can now accept also ACTIVE inputs in all models with a "9" on the sixth digit of their ordering code. Speed Controllers and Inverters

Image
To complete its range of products, Carel offers a series of modules suitable to satisfy different particular applications of HVAC/R units, for fan, pump and compressor speed control. In fact optional modules are available and have been specially designed, and therefore optimised, for increasingly important functions in today's air conditioning and refrigeration units. For what concerns condensing pressure control, there is a wide range of controllers available, allowing the possibility to be used in stand-alone configuration or connected to a controller in the pCO sistema range.  This range of controllers is available for all requirements: single and three-phase version. Regarding parametric controllers , such as the microchiller range, Carel offers a range of controllers with single phase power supply in the MCHRTF range. This speed controllers are also compatible with programmable pCO sistema controllers. They can manage single phase 230 Vac fans with 8, 10 and 12

Carel pGD graphic display

Image
The new Carel pGD graphic display for the pCO sistema , is an electronic device compatible with the previous PCOI/PCOT line terminals; it allows complete management with graphic LCD display to ensure greater versatility and customisation capability, while maintaining a high aesthetic standard. When Carel designed this terminal, special attention was placed on the simplicity of the programming and the quality of performance. The 120x32 pixel graphics of the pGD are managed to be able to display graphic symbols of various sizes, as well as the main international alphabets. pGD is completely compatible with the software developed for the CAREL 4x20 user interfaces; therefore it can be connected directly to any pCO sistema controller already installed without the need of extra software tools.  This version now comes under the: Panel-mounted version (code PGD1000F*0 ) Wall-mounted version (code PGD1000W*0 ) The PGD0-1 also respond to the logic of flexibility and eas

Introducing The New NF/SF and The New EF Spring Return Actuators

Image
An absolute novelty, the NF/SF new-generation spring return actuators are based on the functionality and design of the AF actuators. They are powerfully motorised and now protect your units better than ever before. Safe, strong and reliable the NF/SF actuators now have versions available wth Universal Voltage.  In case of a voltage interruption, the dampers or valves coupled with the actuator are moved automatically into the predefined emergency setting position. Belimo now offers the new EF spring return actuator with a torque of 30Nm, that makes it the most powerfull model in the product range of general spring return actuators rounding out the array upwards in all of its characteristics. Predestined for utilisation on large air dampers, the EF is thorough in the performance of its task, even under difficult conditions, thanks to such options as higher degrees of protection and integrated heating. It is robust, stable, versatile and reliable.
